Aertrax Ii Vehicle Location System: The Aertrax system is an Automatic Vehicle Locating (AVL) Asset Location System (ALS) that provides dependable tracking and locating services. Aertrax is designed to provide meaningful location information, very quickly, about the mobile assets. Aertrax is now operational across all of the U.S., using a cellemetry data service system. Aertrax field units may be programmed to transmit Global Positioning System (GPS) location data on a regular timed basis, in response to a command, or a combination of both. The data is then converted into user friendly information, such as a map that is instantly available over the internet from anywhere in the world. Aertrax service may be ordered today and deployed tomorrow. Field units are shipped ready to-use. No dedicated hardware or software is required to operate the system; a standard laptop or desktop with internet access is all that is required. The only software that the client needs to have is Internet Explorer 4.x (which comes already installed with Microsoft Windows 98). With Aertrax, the per-unit costs and operational fees are very affordable. No expensive head end equipment is needed and virtually no operator training is required. Client-end system operational is accomplished equally well on a dispatcher's PC or the boss' laptop. Unit Information: Aertrax mobile units are completely self-contained, are about the size of a paperback novel and weigh about one and one-half pounds. Connections are provided for 12-volt DC power and the combination GPS / cellemetry service antenna. There are no controls or adjustments at the user level. A computer with internet access is all that is necessary to operate the system. A secure, password- protected home page provides all operational tools on a single screen. Clients may select graphic displays in the form of street-level maps, event lists, or in Excel format. Entire fleets or a single vehicle may be displayed on a map that also incorporates zoom in and out capabilities. Simple mouse clicks, not keystrokes, are all that is required in pinging a single vehicle, a designated group of vehicles, or an entire fleet. Ping responses will appear in the selected format in less than one minute. Data Transmissions: The heart of the Aertrax system is the new cellemetry data service, which provides a secure and dependable means of data transport. Short of direct satellite links, no other system enjoys a large operational footprint in the U.S.
